Splendorporium Exhibit Opening: The Tarot show
Splendorporium opened in 2009 to give back to the community by hosting monthly exhibits open to all local artists. This gallery is an extension of Art4Life, an education non-profit that provides high quality after school and summer arts programs in Portland public elementary schools. Our Children’s Gallery features work created by Art4Life students with monthly themes mirroring those in the Main Gallery.
We host 9 themed exhibits per year, with gallery openings on First Fridays in association with First Friday PDX, Portland's original art walk.
All monthly themes change from year to year, except the Tarot Show in October and the Pink Show in February, which have been annual traditions since the beginning.
The Tarot Show each October is a visual celebration of the esoteric tradition of Tarot, as well as the mystical, magical and otherworldly themes of spooky season.
The first Tarot Show was created by gathering artists, each of whom picked a card which they created their own rendition of for the show. Those artists then met monthly for three months to talk about their creative progress and have a chance to connect. The show was so well loved that it became a yearly occurrence.

Building Belonging with Kimberly Nightingale
Cities that embrace belonging thrive. Everybody belongs, but to grow belonging infrastructure, people need power and decision-making over their own lives and communities through ongoing, intergenerational, arts- and culture-based gatherings, dialogue, and action, with young people leading the effort. Join Dr. Kimberly Nightingale and a team of Portland belonging practitioners from 1–4 p.m. for a real-time exploration on belonging in cities.
The event kicks off with a four-minute Portland-based film from local filmmaker Dawn Jones Redstone, offering a glimpse into what belonging infrastructure can look like on the ground. A short panel follows, bringing together some of the voices behind the film: PSU professors Dr. Lisa K. Bates (Urban Planning, Black Studies) and Dr. Alma Trinidad (Social Work), Juntos director Cristian Vargas, youth panelists Kenlye Willingham and Amy Vu, and filmmaker Dawn Jones Redstone.
The panel is hosted by youth leaders Lorena Mora and Areya Ouanesisouk. From there, the afternoon opens into conversation and belonging activities. Artist April Reissmann will be on hand throughout, visually rendering the event as it unfolds. Nicholas Restaurant will provide the food for this afternoon of music, art, creation and belonging.

Using this inspiration as a jumping-off point, we will tear through magazines and other materials to compose collages of our inner dreamscapes and unearth our personal or collective aspirations for a brighter future.
Materials are provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own papers, photographs, stickers and/or magazines to personalize their collages.

Did We Sell Out? Exploring what it means to build community with integrity.
Did We Sell Out? is a community gathering exploring the tensions many Latino organizers, artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and cultural workers navigate as our communities grow.
Through a moderated panel discussion, facilitated workshops, and opportunities to connect with local organizations, participants will engage questions around institutional relationships, creative labor, accountability, visibility, sustainability, and the pressures that can reshape our values and relationship to community.
Rather than offering easy answers, this event creates space for honest conversation, critical reflection, and collective learning around the contradictions many of us are already navigating in our work.
Whether you're an organizer, artist, entrepreneur, student, or community member, you're invited to join us as we explore what it means to build community with integrity.

Designing a Painting: in conversation with Paula Bullwinkel
Paula Bullwinkel is a narrative and figurative painter immersed in absurdist stories she invents. She has exhibited widely, including NYC, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Oakland, Switzerland and Portland. Born in Northern California, she spent her childhood making miniature clay animals and figures in her mom’s ceramic studio, reading classic fairytales, and playing for hours in the woods with imaginary characters. After earning a B.A. in English literature at UC Berkeley, Bullwinkel spent 18 years in New York City and London as an editorial fashion and portrait photographer. She now paints and lives in Portland, Oregon.

Music Craft NW is an annual economic development initiative celebrating one of Oregon's most distinctive and globally respected manufacturing sectors: musical instruments, professional audio equipment, electronic music technology, and related music products.
The initiative combines an invitation-only leadership reception with a one-day public expo designed to generate business for local manufacturers, attract regional visitors, strengthen Portland's identity as a global center for music manufacturing, and elevate awareness of an industry that represents one of Oregon's most concentrated traded-sector business clusters.
More than a trade show, Music Craft NW (showcasing 30+ individual manufacturers) serves as the public-facing centerpiece of a long-term strategy to support industry growth, encourage collaboration, attract investment, and position Portland as the premier destination for music manufacturing in North America.
