Splendorporium opened in 2009 to give back to the community by hosting monthly exhibits open to all local artists. This gallery is an extension of Art4Life, an education non-profit that provides high quality after school and summer arts programs in Portland public elementary schools. Our Children’s Gallery features work created by Art4Life students with monthly themes mirroring those in the Main Gallery.
We host 9 themed exhibits per year, with gallery openings on First Fridays in association with First Friday PDX, Portland's original art walk.
All monthly themes change from year to year, except the Tarot Show in October and the Pink Show in February, which have been annual traditions since the beginning.
The Tarot Show each October is a visual celebration of the esoteric tradition of Tarot, as well as the mystical, magical and otherworldly themes of spooky season.
The first Tarot Show was created by gathering artists, each of whom picked a card which they created their own rendition of for the show. Those artists then met monthly for three months to talk about their creative progress and have a chance to connect. The show was so well loved that it became a yearly occurrence.
