Join Native Arts + Culture Foundation for a site tour and special viewing of Gerald Clarke Jr.’s showcase for Converge 45, “Between the Lines.”
Through sculpture, printmaking, mural work, and video, Clarke confronts the performative language of land acknowledgments and the distance between symbolic recognition and meaningful action. The exhibition asks visitors to consider what genuine recognition of Indigenous sovereignty requires.
Grounded in Clarke’s perspective as a Cahuilla artist, Between the Lines brings history, language, land, and material experience into direct conversation. His work uses humor, truth, and familiar visual forms to challenge assumptions and invite deeper engagement with Native presence and self-determination.
